Antonio (Toni) Guimarães the co-founder of Excel Human Resources and Altis Professional passed away on September 28, 2016 from Advanced Prostate Cancer. He was 51 years old.
Toni’s story is one of determination as he overcame many hurdles. He moved to Canada with his family at age 3 from Portugal. As a young child with limited resources, he was embraced by Christie Lake Kids, a camp for underprivileged youth. Touched by the impact this organization had on his life, Toni made it a priority to give back to his community both personally and through corporate donations.
Those close to Toni witnessed firsthand how that determination continued throughout his journey with prostate cancer. In true Toni style he searched for solutions relying on his resourcefulness and creativity.
Toni also had a passion for hockey. As an avid fan, coach and player, he wanted to pass his love of the game on to others. He proudly coached or participated in the Nepean Girls Hockey Association for over 10 years.
Most importantly, Toni was a loving father to four daughters: Morgan (20), Brooklyn (17), Torey (14) and Camryn (9) Guimarães. He was proud to watch them grow and develop their interests over the years.
In addition to his children, Toni’s spirit lives on through his wife Kathryn Tremblay, his mother Zelinda Guimarães, mother and father in-law Lorraine and Terry, his siblings Maria and Dean Guimarães, siblings in-law Steven Tremblay (Josée) and Gregg Terrence (Patricia) and his 11 nieces and nephews Cody, Dylan and Paige Grandinetti, Marisa, Danik, and Zachary Tremblay, Mia, Lex and Sabrina Terrence, Kristian and Matthew Guimarães.
The Guimarães-Tremblay family has made arrangements to celebrate Toni’s life this Sunday (October 2) from 1pm to 3pm at the Infinity Centre (2901 Gibford Drive). Doors will open at 12:30pm and the service will begin at 1pm. It will also be streamed live online for those who cannot attend in person. Visit http://livestream.com/accounts/21744693/toniguimaraes.
